Testimonials

“I can't recommend highly enough Historic Texas Tours. I take tours in every city I travel to, and HTT was first-class. Shelley was very knowledgable and interested in the people on her tour. I liked that she went the extra mile by having free bottled water on her tour...something the big name companies do not do. Those little things make for a nice experience. I did 2 tours with Shelley, the Missions Tour and the Foodie Tour. Of course they were quite different, but both excellent. The MISSIONS TOUR was the most interesting thing I did in San Antonio. While the FOODIE TOUR was just fun and delicious! And, I was definitely full at the end! My only regret was that I did not do the FOODIE TOUR earlier in the week so I had more time to go back to the wonderful restaurants. So thanks to Shelley and to the restaurant personnel who treated us so wonderfully!”

About Us

I was born in downtown San Antonio and I grew up in San Antonio and The Texas Hill Country. My dad, Ralph E. Stroud, was one of the contractors that built Hemisfair Park and the monorails in 1967-68.

I met my husband, Alex, in Nov. 1980. He is also a born Texan, growing up in El Paso (he got to San Antonio as soon as he could!). We were married in September, 1983 at The Little Church of La Villita and set out to start our large family. However, due to kidney problems, we were told that we had little chance of ever having children. This was very devastating.

On January 16, 1985, my husband received a kidney transplant from his older brother, Hugh. His health drastically improved and through this miracle, came the miracle of our first child, born on January 16, 1987! From then on, we had miracle after miracle and our family grew to 6 children! The Lord has continually blessed our family.

Through another miracle, we started Historic Texas Tours! It has evolved a lot over the years to include the tours that you have seen listed. We have made many friends from all over the world and continue to look forward to making many more. Our goal is, and has always been, to treat each person as a guest to San Antonio and show them around town just as a friend would. We strive to make Historic Texas Tours different from other companies by making it more personalized. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to show you around San Antonio and Texas!

Thanks,
Shelly Reynolds
